Bollywood filmmaker Hansal Mehta is an avid social media user. He often takes to his official X (formerly known as Twitter) handle to share his experiences, opinions and views. A few days ago, he engaged in a heated argument with filmmaker, actress-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut on the micro-blogging platform, over the ongoing Kunal Kamra Vs Shiv Sena controversy. Having worked together in Simran (2017), they haven’t been on good terms since the film.

However, keeping aside their animity, on Friday while attending The Indian Express’ event Expresso, Mehta opened up about his equation with Kangana. He shared that even though they don’t get along well, he is “very fond” of her. The filmmaker also added that the camera loves her and that the actress herself if not aware of the magic she can create.

Quoted by the media publication, he added, “Outside the Lok Sabha, camera loves her. Even she is not aware what magic she can create in front of the camera. We did not get along, humari nahi bani, hota hai. I did not get along with my ex wife also. But she is a better person than I am.”

The Buckingham Murders filmmaker stated that even though they “fight,” he is “very fond” of her. “It is not a judgement on the other person,” he said. He went on to mention that the process of making their film Simran was “not very good.” The process has stayed with him as he had to pay off debts at the time. “And it was a bit of a painful journey paying off those debts. Her fans tell me that it was the best film you have made,” he concluded.

A part of her tweet read, “It seems your insecurity and mediocrity has not only made you bitter and stupid but it had blinded you as well, it’s not some third class series or atrocious films that you make, don’t try to sell your dumb lies and agendas here in the matters related to my ordeals, stay out of it.”

Responding to her post, Mehta had commented on her tweet, “Get well soon.”
