Tamil actress Shruthi Narayanan found herself in the midst of a controversy last month, when an alleged casting couch sex video, with her face in it, was heavily circulated on all social media platforms. While she had quickly taken to her official handles to slam the netizens for circulating the video, she has now made her first public appearance after being away from the limelight for quite a few days.
Having gained prominence with her role in Siragadikka Aasai, a Tamil television serial, co-starring Vetri Vasanth and Gomathi Priya, she enjoys a decent fan following. Shruthi recently stepped out for the first time and made a public appearance to promote her upcoming film Guts. Draped in a basic dark blue saree and black blouse, she kept her look simple by letting her hair fall gracefully over her shoulder. India Glitz Tamil shared the video snippet with the caption, “Shruthi Narayanan at Guts Trailer Launch Event | Siragadika Aasai.”

As soon as the video went viral, fans rushed to the comment section to laud her and express how proud they are of her. While many flooded the comments with red heart and heart eyes emojis, one wrote, “Very strong woman.” Another one said, “Real gutz @iamshruthinarayanan.” Another one mentioned, “Such a strong girl.”
For those who don’t know, media reports suggested that the 24-year-old actress’ leaked video was from a private audition. Netizens were left questioning the viral clip, which allegedly showed a topless woman, stating that it might be an AI-generated deepfake.

Reacting to the viral video, Shruthi Narayanan had shortly after taken to her official social media handle and slammed the ones circulating them. She urged the netizens to stop sharing the videos like “wildfire,” and added if they still do insist on watching such videos, they should “go see them for your mother or sister or girlfriend, because they are also girls and they also have the same bodies like me, so go and enjoy their videos.”
In another Instagram story, she had slammed people for tarnishing her reputation and questioning her about the videos, rather than the ones who have leaked it and are circulating it. She went on to add that deepfake videos in India are a criminal offence. Sharing the provisions under which legal actions can be taken, against those who are spreading the videos, she boldly told them to “START being human.” She stated, “This isn’t just a video, it’s someone’s mental health, and life.”
