YouTuber Dhruv Rathee, on Monday, condemned the vulgar comments by fellow content creator Ranveer Allahabadia on India’s Got Latent show. In a post on X, Rathee called the use of abusive language for dark comedy “pure nonsense” adding that the sole aim of comedians today is to “shock” and “disgust” viewers.
“I’ve always been strongly against abusive and vulgar language. In the 1000+ videos, shorts and reels that I have made, you won’t find a single abusive word for anyone. What is being done today in the name of dank comedy is pure nonsense. The only purpose is to shock and disgust audiences for views…” he wrote in a post on X.

He added that the level of comedy being presented to the audience is “having a disastrous impact on the moral development of our youth.”
“Shows like India’s Got Latent have the same impact on moral decay of society as films like Animal and they need to be called out for it in strong words,” Rathee wrote. However, he said that banning such content is not a solution since it might result in harsh censorship.
We strongly condemn these extremely disturbing comments made by #RanveerAllahabadia on a public platform. This is neither a joke nor fun. Its an attack on the very foundation of the family values and glorification of incest by #Beerbiceps pic.twitter.com/ecRVlTNYZN

“Calling for any govt bans for this is not the solution as it may usher in a harsh censorship regime. Instead, we need to pressurize content creators to make better content,” the YouTuber said.
Allahabadia, on Monday, issued an apology via a video message saying his comments were “inappropriate” and “not even funny.”

On the show, which also had creators like Ashish Chanchalani, he asked a contestant if he would rather “watch his “parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever.”
His vulgarity drew criticism from Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis and a case has been registered against him in Mumbai. Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma also posted on X that an FIR has been registered against Allahabadia along with Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, Apoorva Makhija, Samay Raina and others involved in the show “for promoting obscenity and engaging in sexually explicit and vulgar discussion.”
The controversial episode featuring Allahabadia has been removed from YouTube on the central government’s request.
