Gaurav Kapoor Jokes About Ranveer Allahbadia’s Quick India’s Got Latent Apology: ‘Abe Rukja, Lawyer Ko Dede…’

Ranveer Allahbadia is in trouble because of what he said on Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent, with several police complaints filed against him. Now, other comedians are talking about it too. Some are making videos to show they support him, while others are using the situation to create new comedy routines.

Recently, standup comedian Gaurav Kapoor posted a clip from his latest act, where he talked about the big controversy. He thinks Allahbadia apologized too fast. He mentioned that event organizers are asking comedians to cancel their shows because of safety concerns, but he isn’t worried about it.

But Kapoor does believe that the India’s Got Latent controversy has been blown out of proportions. “Arre bhai, kya bhasad hogai yaar. Itni badi bhasad toh hai bhi nahi yaar. Ho gaya yaar, nikal gaya mooh se yaar,” he said. He then joked that maybe Ranveer Allahbadia was a little too quick to share his apology.

“Mujhe gire pe laat marna accha nahi lagta, par ek baar maar dete hain. Waise Ranveer jo bhai hain, 12 baje controversy hui, 2 baje apology dedi. 2 ghante mein? Itni jaldi toh main apne papa ko sorry nhi bolta,” he said. “Abe rukja bhootni ke, lawyer ko dede thoda paisa. Baat karle lawyer se, samajh le kya bolna hai!” Gaurav said that Ranveer’s need to ‘own up to it’ is what led to the chaos.

Gaurav also joked that Ranveer seems to be the kind who would have quickly sided with British before Indian independence after a single beating. He also blamed the apologising attitude to his being from Mumbai because someone from Delhi would refuse to own up to it outrightly. Gaurav’s followers commended him for quickly coming up with a set on the controversy. “Aapda ko avsar me badal diya bhai ne,” wrote one. “Bro cracked the whole controversy,” wrote another.

The trouble started when Allahbadia said something controversial on India’s Got Latent, an episode that was later taken down. It featured Samay Raina and other judges. After the backlash, Raina removed all the videos, and Allahbadia said he and his family got death threats. Police complaints were filed against them in Maharashtra and Assam. The controversy has been big news for a week, with complaints against Allahbadia in Mumbai and Guwahati. The issue was even discussed in Parliament, and at a meeting, politicians from various parties expressed worry over Allahbadia’s words, pushing for strong action to stop this from happening again. The National Commission for Women has called Allahbadia, Raina, other judges like Apoorva Makhija, Jaspreet Singh, and Ashish Chanchlani, along with the show’s producers Tushar Poojari and Saurabh Bothra, to appear before them in New Delhi on 17 February.
