Director AR Murugadoss addressed swirling rumors about Salman Khan’s much-awaited film Sikandar, confirming that it’s an entirely original project and not a remake of any existing movie. The action-packed thriller, slated for an Eid 2025 release, has been generating massive excitement since its announcement. With Salman Khan in the lead, paired with Rashmika Mandanna, and backed by producer Sajid Nadiadwala, the film promises to be a big cinematic event. However, some fans speculated it might be a rehash of another movie, prompting Murugadoss to set the record straight.
In a recent statement, the filmmaker said, “This is a completely original story. Every scene, every frame of Sikandar has been designed and executed with authenticity, offering a fresh narrative and experience.”
He further clarified, “It’s not a remake or adaptation of any existing film; an essential part of the film’s originality is its stunning background score, crafted by the immensely talented Santosh Narayanan. His music perfectly complements the film’s energetic tone and vibrant visuals, adding an emotional depth that enhances every scene.”
A source close to the development said, “For the final song of Sikandar, 500 highly skilled dancers from Turkey were specially flown in, bringing their exceptional talent and precision to create an unforgettable visual spectacle. This massive sequence, shot on an enormous scale, required meticulous planning and coordination. The dancers, known for their expertise in high-energy choreography, added a unique flair to the performance, making it one of the most ambitious and visually stunning segments of the film.”
Sikandar began filming in June 2024 in Mumbai, with a grand action scene involving 200 extras. Later, in November 2024, a plane sequence was shot in Hyderabad, highlighting the film’s ambitious scale. The cast also includes Suniel Shetty, Prateik Babbar, and Kajal Aggarwal, adding star power to the project. Murugadoss, celebrated for blockbusters like Ghajini and Holiday, is making his Bollywood comeback after a decade, having last directed Holiday with Akshay Kumar in 2014. Produced under Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, Sikandar marks Salman’s first collaboration with Murugadoss.
